Monte Echia is a short climb in the heart of Chiaia, useful for seeing Naples from a different, quieter vantage point. In just a few steps, you leave the traffic behind and reach a historic urban path, simple and open, from which you can take in the city at a relaxed pace.
From here, you can make out the street grid, the coastline, the wide gulf, and, on the clearest days, Mount Vesuvius in the background. It is not a green park in the classic sense, but a brief and effective stopping point for observing the relationship between hill, port, and sea.
Monte Echia is also linked to the first Greek settlement of Parthenope and, later on, had a strategic role in controlling the coastline and the access points of the neighborhood below. Today it is visited mainly for a scenic break between Chiaia and the views over the gulf.
