The museum of Summonte, established in 2008, is located within the Castellare complex, and management of the facility has been entrusted to the mediateur. This is a complex that was built around 1090; at least the earliest information that has come down to us dates back to 1090, and it was later managed by the families who came from Roger II of Sicily, entrusted to counts, the Counts of Avellino, and then there was a landowner who managed it until 1300. This Castellare complex consists of a manor in which soldiers probably rested; then there is a tower that was rebuilt on the remains of the castle and was later restored through work carried out over the years from 94/95 to 2005/2006, and then in 2008 this museum was created. There is a former church that was also restored with great care. Restoration was also carried out on all parts of this complex, using both construction techniques and materials used at the time, so this complex is made up of these three parts, all of which can be visited, and the Castellare curtain wall that you can see outside these structures. The museum consists of two sections: one dedicated to medieval weaponry, the other to the archaeological finds discovered in the castle. The exhibition route begins with the reconstruction of the guardhouse, where weapons, clothing, and a helmet used by infantrymen called a celata are on display. In the first room, there is also a reconstruction of a table on which the game of Tria is engraved, an ancient game played by the guards.
