Inside the Angevin tower, part of the archaeological finds discovered during the investigations conducted by the Superintendency between 1994 and 2005 is on display. This tower was built on the remains of the original castle in the Angevin period. It has recently been brought back to life through restoration work that was completed around 2005, and since 2008 this castle complex has been officially open, including a museum route, and it will soon also be the subject of further integration, because at present it features materials from the two excavations carried out in 1999 and 2002 around the castle area. So we can admire finds relating to the daily life of the castle, including vessels such as Ariano ceramic jugs and everyday, common-use materials. We also have a projectile, used for military offensives, made of stone for the catapult. There are also finds discovered in a location near the castle that belonged to an ossuary in which there were buckles and objects with which people living around this area were buried. The materials on display bear witness to an intermittent use of the site from the medieval age to the modern age. The Norman tower is a composite structure and, for the museum, is recognized as a site of regional interest.
The tower consists of five floors: on the first level there is the cistern, which was used for collecting water and preserving food; a second floor used as a storage area; and the remaining three floors are used as exhibition space. Then there is the terrace overlooking the entire Partenio, the whole valley, and leaving everyone breathless because it is certainly the highest point in the town, from which you can see all the nature surrounding this place at 360°. This is among those museums in Campania that operate according to technical-scientific standards and whose main objective is the quality of the services offered to visitors.
