In Piazza Castello, three milestone columns related to the Appian Way are visible, bearing on the front the numerals II, V, VIII, referring to the distance in miles from Benevento, near which they were placed along the road. A fourth milestone belongs to the Via Traiana. The columns bear the same commemorative text, recalling the reorganization ordered by Hadrian in 123 AD of the stretch between Benevento and Aeclanum. The works were carried out with the contribution of the landowners in the area between the two cities.
