Il ponte Leproso permetteva alla Via Appia di superare il fiume Sabato, prima del suo ingresso nella città di Benevento. Leproso Bridge allowed the Via Appia to cross the Sabato River before entering the city of Benevento. The structure, altered over the centuries, originally had five arches in limestone blocks, dating to the Trajanic period, while the arches visible today in brick are later reconstructions. It was probably restored in late antiquity or the medieval period through the reuse of Roman funerary elements. Destroyed in the 1702 earthquake, it was rebuilt with the addition of an arch.
