Pacina is an ancient monastery dating back to 900 A.D. located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena, on the border line between Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi. Surrounded by vineyards, woods, arable fields, and olive groves, Pacina, before being a farm, is a place inhabited by its guardians Giovanna Tiezzi and Stefano Borsa.
Pacina is the result of the merging of two stories. The first is a geological-biological story that takes us back to the origins of the place, over five million years ago, when this land emerged thanks to the accumulation of marine sediments that still characterize the soils today and distinctly mark the wines that arise from it. The second is a family story, which brings us back to Giovanna's great-grandfather, Edoardo Pulselli, who purchased the estate between the two wars.
At Pacina, non-interventionist practices have always represented the norm: from the field, using only copper and sulfur, to the cellar, a true historical monument buried in three levels, where all fermentations are spontaneous and the wine undergoes no intervention other than the meticulous care of Stefano, who, at the cost of a significant investment of time, bottles wines that reflect the identity of Pacina to the fullest.
Today, alongside Giovanna and Stefano are their children, Maria and Carlo, and Roberto, Maria's partner, who carry on agricultural projects that contribute to making Pacina a place of life, joy, and biodiversity.
